‘The 100’ ends with season 7, ‘Black Lightning’ joins crossover, ‘Batwoman’, and more from TCA

PHOENIX – There were many announcements revealed at The Television Critics Association (TCA) summer tour leading up to the premiere of The CW’s fall prime shows.

Fans are highly anticipating this season’s crossover where many of The CW shows link together to follow one plotline. This season, there are a few new tricks up their sleeves. The crossover is titled “Crisis on Infinite Earths” and is already set to feature Supergirl, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and The Flash. However, now joining the superhero crew is Black Lightning.

This superfamily has not appeared in any crossovers up to this point. It is not confirmed which characters will be featured in the Arrowverse special. “Crisis on Infinite Earths” will consist of five episodes each premiering on a different show and a different air date starting Dec. 8 with the last episode not airing until Jan. 14 the following year.

The CW also has new streaming rights and a new way for fans to get caught up on their favorite shows. Starting this season all-new shows – Katy Keene, Batwoman and Nancy Drew – will be available to stream the day after they premiere on the CW Seed, CW app and CWTV.com. The entire season will be available to stream after the finale episode up until 30 days before the new season premiere date. Returning shows will have a rolling five episodes available up until the new season.

“We are incredibly excited to offer our viewers the full stack of our new shows on our preeminent A-VOD digital platforms, giving them the chance to catch up on these shows from the beginning at any point during the season, for free and without authentication,” said Pedowitz.

Popular sci-fi drama The 100 will end after season seven. The post-apocalyptic story follows the 100 survivors of a nuclear war. After 97 years of living in space, the juvenile delinquents are returned to earth.

The seventh season of the show is not set to premiere until 2020. It will consist of 16 episodes making the entire series’ episode count 100. We see what they did there.

Season six of The 100 will air on Aug. 6.

Batwoman is one of the newer shows to be added to The CW’s lineup. During TCA’s panel, producers spoke about the leading characters background and her diversity from other superhero characters. Batwoman, also known as Kate Kane, will be played by Ruby Rose and is the first gay superhero on TV. The plot comes from the original comics and will also include the character’s religious background. Producers were disappointed the “Bat” Mitzvah was cut from the debut Deadline reports.

Batwoman will premiere on The CW on Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.
