Fall weather is perfect for soaking up the sun during the day and sitting around a bonfire with friends at night.

It’s also a great time of year to work on the yard. And by “work on the yard,” we mean adding a fun feature like this DIY pergola and fire pit!

We spotted this tutorial when Remodelaholic shared the project on their Facebook page.

And yes, we agree that the finished project looks like something straight out of a magazine. Not surprisingly, this Facebook post garnered tons of shares and likes.

The creators of this gorgeous pergola and fire pit are Brett and Lauren, a couple that resides in Alabama. Here’s what Lauren told Remodelaholic about the cool DIY project:

“We have a passion for restoration and we’re eager to see our property transform,” she said. “Without a doubt, one of our most beloved DIY projects and our favorite area to retreat on the farm is our outdoor pergola and fire pit.”

“It is truly an outdoor oasis and an area we created for the sole purpose of bringing our family and friends together,” she continued. “It’s a conversation piece around our small town and we love making s’mores, stargazing and relaxing here at the end of the day.”

Build Your Own Pergola

Having a nice seating area like this would make stargazing that much more fun, right? Well, you can find all the detailed instructions for taking on this ambitious DIY project on the Remodelaholic website.

The Alabama couple said that all materials, with the exception of seating and lighting, set them back about $1,300.

The six wooden porch swings were an additional $100 each. That looks to be about the most affordable price you’ll find for wooden porch swings! We found some comparable ones on Amazon for $141.

For the six wooden Adirondack chairs, you’re looking at an additional $500 to $1,200, depending on where you purchase them.

We found some on Amazon for $90 each.

Another thing to consider before you take on such a detailed and large project is the time it would take you to complete it.

This might take you several weekends in a row or longer to complete. But the finished product is pretty incredible and we’re sure it will be the site of great memories for years to come!

S’mores Biscuits Are The New Dessert You’ll Want To Try

Once your fire pit is up and running, the first order of business will be toasting up some marshmallows for s’mores. And you can feel free to toss out that old box of graham crackers, because we found an upgraded s’mores recipe that calls for something even more delicious: biscuits.

That’s right. Chocolate chip s’mores biscuits are about to become your go-to dessert for parties, holidays and pretty much any night of the week.

Consider adding this recipe to your sweets wheelhouse — your guests will thank you, as soon as they lick the sticky marshmallow and chocolate off their hands.

You can make your own biscuit mix or use a pre-made box mix, as suggested by Eden Passante, who runs the blog Sugar and Charm. Just look at the finished product in this photo posted to the Sugar and Charm Facebook page:

We’ll probably never be able to go back to regular s’mores after tasting these.

All you’ll need to make these ooey-gooey treats is biscuit mix, milk, chocolate chips and marshmallows. Find all the details and assembly instructions on Sugar and Charm.

If chocolate chips aren’t your thing, Karlynn Johnston at The Kitchen Magpie makes her biscuit s’mores using chocolate truffles. She stacks a truffle and marshmallow in between two biscuits rather than mixing the chocolate into the biscuit mix. Yum!
