PHOENIX — An 18-year-old girl is dead following a crash on 43d Avenue and Thunderbird that occurred December 27, according to police.

Phoenix police officials say they responded to a two-vehicle collision at 43rd Avenue and Thunderbird around 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Witnesses told police a Toyota Camry, driven by a 22-year-old man, was making a left turn into southbound 43rd Avenue from Thunderbird when a Mercury Mountaineer collided into it.

Four passengers were in the Camry, and none were injured, according to police.

The driver of the Mercury, 18-year-old Breanna Olson, was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, police say. The four passengers in Olson's car were uninjured in the crash, according to police.

Olson was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police informed ABC15 of Olson's passing on December 29.

Police suspect the 22-year-old driver of the Camry was impaired at the time of the crash. Charges are pending lab results, police say.

A family friend started a GoFundMe account for Olson's mother to help offset costs.
