DARTMOUTH, MA — The woman convicted of manslaughter for convincing her boyfriend to kill himself is getting out of jail Thursday morning.

Michelle Carter is being released after serving most of a 15-month sentence at the Bristol County jail in Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

The 23-year-old is getting out for good behavior. She will now serve five years of probation.

Last week, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear Carter's conviction appeal.

Prosecutors say she caused her boyfriend's 2014 death when she told him in a phone call to get back into his carbon monoxide-filled truck.
