A Queen Creek staple is closing after 41 years in business.

Rudy's Restaurant, located at Ocotillo Road and Ellsworth Drive, served traditional Mexican food and also catered events.

The owner and namesake of the restaurant, Rudy Valenzeula, died earlier this year.

A statement on the restaurant's Facebook page written by Valenzuela's wife reads:

To my family, friends, and dear customers who Rudy and I considered friends, thank you for your support for all the 41 yrs we were in business. Rudy passed away February 5th of this year. We were both going to retire this year and do things together and spend time together but it can't happen because he's gone. So I have decided to retire and close Rudy's Restaurant (Rudy's Restaurant) will be closing our doors this Saturday, May 28th, 2016 for good.

Thank you so much,

Toni

The restaurant is open until 9 p.m. Saturday.
