Several big closures and restrictions will be in place this weekend on Valley freeways, including Loop 101 between Interstate 10 and Thunderbird Road in the West Valley.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time, use caution, and consider alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place.
Northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) closed between Interstate 10 and Thunderbird Road in the West Valley from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 24) for pavement improvement work. Southbound Loop 101 then closed between Thunderbird Road and Interstate 10 from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 25) for pavement improvement work.
DETOUR: Consider alternate freeway routes, including Interstate 17, or local routes including 91st and 99th avenues.
Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane between Loop 303 and Perryville Road in Goodyear from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 26) for rubberized asphalt paving. Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Citrus Road closed. Southbound Loop 303 ramp to westbound I-10 also closed.
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes where necessary due to ramp closures. Note: Westbound I-10 off-ramp at Perryville Road closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 26). Consider exiting at Jackrabbit Trail.
Eastbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between Greenfield and Power roads in Mesa from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 26) for rubberized asphalt paving.
DETOUR: Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) is alternate freeway route. Local traffic also can use McDowell or McKellips roads.
Grand Avenue (US 60) closed overnight between Dysart and Litchfield roads in Surprise from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 24) for utility work near future Bell Road overpass. Grand Avenue then narrowed to one lane in both directions in the same area from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 24) for utility work.
DETOUR: Primary detour will include Dysart, Greenway, and Litchfield roads. Please allow extra travel time and use caution in work zone.
Westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) left two lanes, including HOV lane, closed overnight between Kyrene Road and Interstate 10 in Tempe from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 24) for installation of lane separator posts.
DETOUR: Please use caution in work zone and be prepared to slow down and merge safely.
