Work in the Deck Park Tunnel will close portions of I-10 this weekend, and a stretch of Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) also will be closed for work on the nearly completed widening project in Mesa.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers should consider alternate routes and allow extra travel time while the following Phoenix-area weekend freeway restrictions are in place:
Eastbound Interstate 10 closed between the I-17 stack interchange and State Route 51 from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 5) for tunnel maintenance. Both I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 at the stack closed.
DETOUR: Eastbound I-10 traffic can use southbound I-17 and reconnect with I-10 near Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Note: Northbound I-17 closed between Adams Street and McDowell Road from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 5) for bridge work. Northbound I-17 traffic will detour on frontage road.
Westbound Interstate 10 closed between the I-17 split interchange (near Sky Harbor Airport) and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 6) for tunnel maintenance. Southbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound I-10 also closed. Southbound SR 51 on-ramp at Thomas Road and off-ramp at McDowell Road closed.
DETOUR: Westbound I-10 traffic can use northbound I-17 and reconnect with I-10 at the Stack interchange north of Adams Street.
Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) closed between McDowell Road (southeast of Power Road) and Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 7) for widening project work, including final lane striping.
DETOUR: Consider alternate routes, including westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Local traffic can detour on westbound McDowell Road.
Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane in areas between Verrado Way and State Route 85 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 5) for rubberized asphalt paving. Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Verrado Way and westbound off- and on-ramps at Watson Road also closed at times Saturday (Nov. 5).
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time. Alternate routes include westbound Yuma and Broadway roads. Note: Westbound I-10 ramp to southbound SR 85 and northbound SR 85 ramp to westbound I-10 closed from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 5). Please follow signed detours. Times are approximate and subject to change as paving work progresses.
Grand Avenue (US 60) closed in both directions overnight between Dysart and Litchfield roads from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights (Nov. 4-5) for painting and installation of fencing on future Bell Road overpass.
DETOUR: Drivers can use Dysart and Litchfield roads.
Westbound Interstate 10 ramp to northbound Loop 303 closed continuously from 7 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 10) for nearby overhead-ramp construction.
DETOUR: Drivers can exit westbound I-10 at Estrella Parkway or Sarival Avenue and use westbound McDowell Road and northbound Cotton Lane to access northbound Loop 303 via on-ramp at Thomas Road.
US 60 (Superstition Freeway) closed for short durations in either direction between Rural Road and Interstate 10 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 6) for Cox Communications overhead cable work.
DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time due to intermittent closures.
