Weekend Traffic Alert (March 29 - April 1): Closure on Loop 101, lane restrictions on I-10

PHOENIX — Prepare for possible delays for a closure on eastbound Loop 101 this weekend.

The closure is in the opposite direction of what was in place last weekend, but will cover the same stretch of roadway. Crews continue to set up the work zone for a major widening project, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Here are the detailed descriptions as they are listed on ADOT's Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory:

  • Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Scottsdale Road and Pima Road/Princess Drive in north Scottsdale from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday(April 1) for temporary barrier placement and lane-stripe adjustments as part of a freeway widening project. Eastbound Loop 101 on-ramp at 64th Street also closed. Expect heavy traffic, use alternate routes and consider exiting well before the closure point. DETOUR: Options include eastbound Bell Road/Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard south of Loop 101 and taking Scottsdale Road north from Loop 101, Thompson Peak Parkway east and Pima Road south to the freeway.
  • Westbound I-10 narrowed to one lane near 67th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Sunday (March 31) for work on Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time, expect heavy traffic and consider alternate routes, including westbound I-10 access road, McDowell Road or Van Buren Street.
  • Eastbound I-10 narrowed to one lane nightly near 59th Avenue from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday through Thursday (March 31-April 4) for work on Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time, expect heavy traffic and consider alternate routes, including eastbound I-10 access road, McDowell Road or Van Buren Street.
