TRAFFIC: Weekend travel alert for March 11-14

Valley freeways will see some lane restrictions and ramp closures this weekend, so drivers should plan ahead.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:

Eastbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) off-ramp at Cave Creek Road closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Sunday (March 13) for pavement repair. Also right-lane restrictions on north- and southbound Cave Creek Road at Loop 101. DETOUR: Consider using 7th Street or Tatum Boulevard off-ramp as an alternate exit from Loop 101.

Southbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) narrowed to one lane at Glendale Avenue 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (March 12) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Consider using Interstate 17 or Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) as alternate freeway routes.

Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between University Drive and Broadway Road from 3 a.m. to noon Saturday (March 12) for overhead message board repair. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely in work zone.

Southbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Indian School and Thomas roads from 3 a.m. to noon Sunday (March 13) for overhead message board repair. DETOUR: Consider using Interstate 17 or Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) as alternate freeway routes.

Interstate 10 in both directions at milepost 95 (approximately 50 miles west of downtown Phoenix) will experience delays between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday (March 13) as traffic is intermittently stopped for APS overhead power line installation.
