PHOENIX — One person was killed in a crash near 7th Avenue and Alta Vista Road on Wednesday.
Police say a 79-year-old man slowed down for a stop sign in the area before continuing through the intersection without a full stop. At that point, he failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with a 32-year-old woman driving an Infinity G37.
The force of the crash pushed her vehicle into the path of dump truck driven by a 71-year-old man. The dump truck then struck the original vehicle.
Police identified the woman who died as Irma Pedroza.
A friend of Pedrozas set up a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for funeral arrangements, medical bills, and ongoing support for Pedroza's two young daughters.
No signs of impairment were noted during the incident.
