PHOENIX — A deadly motorcycle crash on the Loop 101 near Union Hills caused major traffic delays Sunday.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 9:30 a.m.
DPS says a gray SUV hit the back of a Toyota sedan and fled the scene. Shortly after, a Harley Davidson motorcycle struck the back of the sedan, throwing the rider into the HOV lane.
The rider was then struck by a Kia sedan.
DPS identified the rider as 60-year-old Robert Olislaeger of Whittier, California.
The other drivers involved did not suffer serious injuries during the collisions.
DPS officials are still looking for the gray SUV that took off from the initial crash.
The freeway re-opened around 2:50 p.m.
