Posted

Chicago Bulls forward Bobby Portis injured teammate Nikola Mirotic during an altercation that took place in practice, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday.

According to Wojnarowski, Mirotic "suffered a fractured bone in his face" during a practice scuffle and "stayed down for several minutes." Yahoo's Shams Charania reported Mirotic was hospitalized and will be "sidelined indefinitely" as a result of his injuries.

"Mirotic is undergoing tests, but is expected to be out for the foreseeable future," Charania reported.

Mirotic is a 6-foot-10, 238-pound power forward who is entering his fourth season with the Bulls. He averaged 10.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in Chicago last season.

The 6-foot-11, 248-pound Portis is entering his third season with the Bulls. The 2015 first-round draft pick averaged 6.8 points and 4.6 rebounds with Chicago in 2016-17.

The Bulls will face the Toronto Raptors in their season opener Thursday.
