Linebacker and Texas A&M transfer Santino Marchiol has been dismissed from the Arizona Wildcats football team, Arizona head coach Kevin Sumlin announced Monday.

The news came after The Dallas Morning News reported that a video appeared to show Marchiol referring to Texas A&M players as "monkeys."

Marchiol made national headlines last week when he alleged new Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff committed multiple NCAA recruiting and practice violations. Marchiol eventually decided to transfer to Arizona to follow Sumlin, who was fired as Texas A&M's coach after last season but was hired to replace Rich Rodriguez at Arizona in January.

Marchiol is a former 4-star recruit who had hoped to be eligible to play at UA as soon as this season.

The Wildcats will open their 2018 football season Saturday night vs. BYU in Tucson.
