The Arizona Diamondbacks were in desperate need of starting pitching and made it clear they were out to sign an ace.
It appears the D-backs have found their man, as multiple reports say the D-backs have reached a deal with Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zack Greinke, pending a physical. The deal is reportedly worth $206 million over six years -- the highest average annual value for a contract in MLB history.
The right-hander is coming off a 19-3 season in which he posted a National League best 1.66 ERA.
Greinke is a three-time All-Star and won the American League Cy Young award with the Kansas City Royals in 2009.
Zack Greinke's 4 best seasons by ERA are better than any season ever posted by a Diamondbacks starter other than Randy Johnson
