Fitz remembers fellow Minneapolis native Prince

What do Prince and Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald have in common? They were born in the same northern U.S. city.

Like the pop legend who passed away Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals' future Hall of Fame wide receiver was born in Minneapolis, albeit 25 years after Prince did.

Fitz attended high school in Minnesota and was a ball boy for the Minnesota Vikings before leaving his home state to play collegiately at Pitt.

So, it's no surprise that Prince's death is especially personal to the nine-time Pro Bowler.

Prince famously performed in what's considered one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows of all-time, as he memorably sang "Purple Rain" and other hits in the middle of a Miami rainstorm in 2007.

Two years later, Fitzgerald led the Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, less than 300 miles northwest of where Prince performed.

Also on Thursday, Fitzgerald's hometown MLB team honored Prince in its own way.
