The Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils don't kick off football season for another month, but ASU fans can enjoy a small amount of bragging rights heading into the season thanks to the Associated Press.

On Tuesday, the AP released its list of the top 100 college football programs of all-time. The formula for creating the list was fairly simple: review all 1,103 top-25 AP football polls dating back to 1936, and award bonuses for teams that have been ranked No. 1 and won a national championship. A total of 165 schools have been ranked in at least one of those 1,103 polls.

Based on that criteria, the Sun Devils just missed out on the AP's all-time top 25, coming in at No. 30. The Wildcats placed a distant 54th.

The top five all-time schools in order are Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Alabama and USC, making the Trojans the top-ranked Pac-12 school on the list.

ASU is the sixth-highest ranked Pac-12 school. UCLA is 17th, Washington is 20th, Colorado is 27th and Oregon is 28th.

The Wildcats are ranked ninth among Pac-12 teams, behind Stanford (32) and Cal (45).
