Cardinals sign veteran linebacker Jason Babin

The Cardinals have had success with late veteran additions to their squad this season.

They'll look for more of that on Saturday when a newly-signed two-time Pro Bowler takes the field for the Cards in their home playoff game against the Packers.

On Tuesday, the Cards announced the signing of linebacker Jason Babin. The 12th-year pro was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2010 and '11 and has 64.5 career sacks.

Babin played for the Baltimore Ravens earlier this season. He recorded two sacks, 22 quarterback hurries and 29 tackles in 16 games with the New York Jets in 2014.

The Cards also announced Tuesday that linebacker Gabe Martin has been elevated from their practice squad.

The roster moves correspond to a pair of injuries on the defensive side. Linebacker Alex Okafor was placed on the non-football injury list with a toe injury, and defensive tackle Cory Redding was placed in injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Redding recorded five tackles, two fumble recoveries and an interception for the Cards this season. Okafor had 31 tackles and two sacks.
