It was a brush with danger on the baseball diamond -- and it's one that the Arizona Diamondbacks will look back and bristle at.
Yep, pretty much any bad tooth-related pun you can think of could be used to describe D-backs second baseman Jean Segura's encounter with a giant toothbrush during Wednesday's game at the Colorado Rockies.
The backstory: Every MLB team has a novelty "race" in between innings of each home game in order to keep fans entertained. At Chase Field, it's the Legends Race. In Washington, it's the Racing Presidents. In Milwaukee, it's the Sausage Race.
Well, in Denver, you have the Tooth Trot. It is a race dedicated to good oral hygiene, featuring Toothy the Tooth, Fresh the Toothpaste and Bristles the Toothbrush.
When Segura came out of the D-backs' third-base dugout to retake the field during Wednesday's game, he had a close call with Bristles.

In baseball terms, you'd have to call this a serious brush-back. (OK, we're done.)
As for the game? The D-backs rallied from a six-run deficit to tie the game in the eighth inning but ultimately fell 8-7 to the Rockies, ending the Snakes' five-game winning streak.
