PHOENIX — The Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) has voted to reverse its decision made last week to cancel all winter sports due to COVID-19 concerns.

The AIA’s executive board voted 5-4 Tuesday to approve the start of winter sports starting on January 18.

The AIA says masks will be required at all times during games, even while athletes are participating.

The AIA also voted to allow a small number of fans to attend games. Each player on the home team of a game is allowed to have two parents or guardians in attendance. All fans must wear masks while in attendance. Schools will also be allowed to have their spirit line at home games.
