PHOENIX — The Phoenix Police Department is investigating at two locations after shots were fired at a patrol vehicle overnight.
Authorities say it started after an unknown suspect started shooting at the police patrol vehicle near 71st Avenue and Thomas Road in west Phoenix.
At some point Phoenix police officers showed up at a nearby IHOP restaurant near 75th and Virginia avenues. Multiple police units could be seen surrounding the building around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
We're told the investigations at both locations are related.
Our crews at the scene saw two people being taken into custody.
Phoenix PD says several people have been detained but have not yet provided further details.
Nobody was reported injured.
