Phoenix Rising FC announced 11 players to return for the 2020 season

PHOENIX Phoenix Rising Football Club had an incredible season that came to an abrupt ending in the USL Championship Western Conference Semifinals against Real Monarch SLC just last Friday, Nov. 1.

With the season over, the club has its sights set on the future and they have announced 11 players to return next year.

The players are José Aguinaga, Solomon Asante, Kyle Bjornethun, Joey Calistri, A.J. Cochran, Junior Flemmings, Adam Jahn, Kevon Lambert, Austin Ledbetter, Zac Lubin, and Corey Whelan. 

“I am very excited to bring back a strong core from last year’s record-breaking squad. This is the type of foundation that allows greatness to be built upon. The search to add the highest quality players and people has already begun. I thank those who are not returning for their tremendous contributions and wish them well in their future endeavors.”

With these players, many of which lead the team to a 20 game win streak that shocked the world and broke the American soccer record for the longest win streak held.

Two players have shared on their own social media accounts that they will not be returning for the 2020 season, defender, Mustapha Dumbuya and midfielder, Alessandro Riggi.

Among the announcement, there is still no word on if the following players will return next season:

Amadou Dia, Joseph Farrell, Jason Johnson, Brandon Keniston, Doueugui Mala, James Musa, Ben Spencer and Carl Woszczynski.
