ELOY, AZ — An Eloy-based skydiving team won gold at the 2019 US Parachute Association National Skydiving Championships.

According to the United States Parachute Association, the group, Flightshop, competed in the championships in North Carolina.

They took home the top honor in mixed formation skydiving.

“In mixed formation skydiving, the team leaps from an aircraft more than two miles above the ground and then races against the clock to complete a series of maneuvers in
upright, upside-down, back-to-earth and belly-to-earth orientations. A videographer flies alongside to catch all the action,” USPA says.

The team is made up of Eloy residents Mike Friedman, 40, and Jason Peters, 46, as well as Andy Malchiodi, 41, who is from California.
