PHOENIX — Friday, December 14th is the first of four deadline days if you want your package to arrive before Christmas with the United States Postal Service.

Customers must have their package dropped off at their local post office by the close of business Friday, to qualify for Retail Ground service -- the cheapest package delivery option offered by the United States Postal Service. If you ship after December 14, your package can still arrive before Christmas however it will cost you more.

USPS holiday deadline dates:

  • First Class Mail Service - December 20
  • Priority Mail Service - December 20
  • Priority Mail Express Service - December 22
  • USPS Retail Ground - December 14

The United States Postal Service estimates they'll handle more than 900 million packages for the 2018 holiday delivery season, which runs from Thanksgiving through New Years. More than 8,000 new vehicles have also been added to the USPS fleet to help them handle delivery volume and demand.
