Multiple wildfires are burning across Arizona as authorities warn of dangerous conditions in large areas of eastern and northern Arizona for fires to grow and others to start.

An "urgent fire weather measure" issued Monday morning by the National Weather Service says strong winds and low humidity prompted red flag warnings for much of northern and eastern Arizona into Monday evening.

The state Department of Forestry and Fire Management says firefighters from multiple agencies were working to suppress nearly 30 fires as of Sunday.

State Forester Jeff Whitney says fires of particular concern include ones burning near Black Canyon City north of Phoenix, along the Mogollon Rim east of Pine and near Dragoon in southeastern Arizona.
