ALBUQUERQUE, NM — A family from New Mexico that was reported missing after heading to Arizona has been found safe in the Phoenix area.

Albuquerque Police Department say Stephen Tilden, Melody Vieux, 5-year-old Harveena Tilden and 1-year-old Agnes Tilden, left for Arizona on August 25.

Police reportedly stopped them on I-40 west of Albuquerque near Dancing Eagle Travel Center on August 26, but their location after that time was not known for several days.

Vieux reportedly sent a text message to family on August 27 that Stephen, her boyfriend, kept "striking her."

She reportedly said "that she and the girls were trying to walk away but that Stephen keeps pushing her." After that, police say there was no further communication.

On Sunday, Albuquerque police said the family was found safe in the Phoenix area.

Additional information was not immediately available.
