Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is holding an adoption special through the end of October in hopes of finding forever homes for more than 1,000 dogs.
According to an MCACC spokesman, their facility located near 27th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road has nearly 700 dogs. Due to the high number of pups coming into their facility, up to three dogs have been forced to live in a single kennel.
Having more than one dog in a single kennel not only causes stress for the animals, but it can cause them to get sick, MCACC said.
In honor of Columbus Day, MCACC is offering free adopts from adult dogs (7 months or older). Additionally, all through October, black, white and brown adult dogs can be adopted for $17!
