A motel in Kingman has launched a photo contest to tap into its Route 66 roots.

The Kingman Daily Miner reports the Ramada Inn in Kingman is seeking the community's help in creating the city's first full-service Route 66 resort destination.

The motel is asking people to share their favorite pictures that capture the essence of the Route 66 experience.

Photos will be displayed on the Ramada Kingman website and Facebook page, where people can vote for the best submissions.

Ramada Kingman general manager Ben Daniels says winning images will be displayed in the motel lounge, lobby, restaurant and rooms to provide a Route 66 ambiance.

Route 66, which ran from Chicago to Los Angeles, began in 1926 after the nation launched the first federal highway system.
