Is Arizona’s hospital system prepared to treat a high number of coronavirus patients?

According to one study, our state is among the worst when it comes to the number of hospital beds and physicians.

Data from Kaiser Family Foundation was analyzed by QuoteWizard, showing the rankings of the best and worst states when it comes to number of hospital beds and physicians.

The 2018 data shows that Arizona has 2.45 physicians and 1.96 hospital beds per 1,000 people.

Those numbers put Arizona in 47th place out of all 50 states, coming in ahead of just Nevada, Idaho and Utah.

The states “most prepared” according to QuoteWizard numbers are West Virginia, New York and Pennsylvania. They have between 3.17 and 4.6 physicians per 1,000 people and between 2.7 and 3.74 beds per 1,000 people.
