Ted Cruz spoke strong about the decline in the American workforce at Arizona Christian University Friday.

"We have the lowest percentage of Americans working of any year since 1977," Cruz told host Sean Hannity.

"We have the lowest percentage of Americans working of any year since 1977."

At the rally, which included former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the Texas Senator said he is fighting for people such as single moms and union workers.

PolitiFact truth-checked this statement when Cruz made the same remark during a GOP debate in January.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the labor force is indeed at its lowest since the 1970s. But, a factor in the decline is baby boomers transitioning into retirement.

Moreover, according to a Brookings Institution economist, aging in general would be attributable to the decline in workers.
