Many driving toward Tucson overnight and early Thursday morning experienced serious backups due to a closure of I-10.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 were closed at Riggs Road on Wednesday night.
The closure from Riggs Road to State Route 587 lasted from 7 p.m. Wednesday until approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
It reopened about half an hour ahead of the scheduled time of 10 a.m.
According to ADOT,workers were completing roadway repairs on the Gila River Bridge.
When Interstate 10 is closed, eastbound traffic detours along Riggs Road and onto State Route 587 before returning to Interstate 10.
Westbound lanes of Interstate 10 were not impacted by the construction.
