Gov. Doug Ducey is headed to California to view the debate featuring Republican presidential candidates.

Ducey spokesman Daniel Scarpinato says the governor and his wife Angela are taking a state plane to the debate at the Reagan presidential library in Simi Valley. Ducey will reimburse the state for transportation costs from a private fund set up to pay for his January inauguration.

Wednesday's main debate features 11 GOP candidates and begins at 5 p.m. Two hours earlier, the other four contenders debate.

The Republican governor has met with several GOP presidential hopefuls in recent months, including business executive Carly Fiorina and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.

Scarpinato says Ducey is looking forward to hearing from all the candidates.
