CHINO VALLEY, AZ — A man and a woman have been arrested, accused of abusing two puppies at a home in Chino Valley.

The Chino Valley Police Department said they were tipped off to an animal abuse claim at a home in the area and responded to the home on Monday.

When police arrived, they say the two puppies were found living in a kennel without food or water. Police say the area was covered in trash and feces.

Police also say the puppies were both wearing collars that had not been adjusted as they had grown. Both dogs had raw flesh exposed from the collars being extremely tight.

Police arrested 39-year-old Penny Graydon and 21-year-old Joel Graydon at the home.

Both face charges of animal neglect, animal abuse and animal mistreatment.

The two puppies were taken to the Chino Valley Animal Hospital for treatment and will have a long road to recovery.

Police say anyone interested in donating to help the puppies as they recover can call the Chino Valley Animal Shelter at 928-636-4223, extension 7.
