A 29-year-old man was arrested in Bullhead City, Arizona, in connection with the attempted murder of his 2-week-old daughter.

Jeremy William Cowan will be booked into Mohave County Jail in Kingman.

On Aug. 14, detectives were notified that a baby was transported to a Las Vegas hospital for a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage. Detectives began investigating the injuries and interviewed the child’s parents who claimed the baby fell off the couch.

Detectives were told that the parents had taken the baby to the doctor several times during the past week because the baby was throwing up and not eating.

Detectives again interviewed the parents because the injuries were not consistent with a baby falling off a couch. The parents then changed their story and reported that the father, Cowan, had tripped and accidentally dropped the baby on her head. The parents also had failed to tell doctors that the baby had recently been dropped on her head.

On Monday, police received information that Cowan had been involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend, the mother of the child. It was reported that Cowan threatened to kill his girlfriend and said that he wished their baby daughter had died.

After interviewing Cowan again, police discovered that he had thrown the infant head first on the hardwood floor because she was crying.

The baby and the mother’s two other young children are currently in the care of the Department of Child Safety. The baby’s condition is unknown at this time.
