GRAND CANYON NATL PARK, AZ — A body was found Wednesday in the Colorado River below Lava Falls at the Grand Canyon, according to park officials.

Grand Canyon officials believe the body is that of Peter Schwab, who went missing on June 28 while on a hiking and river trip at the national park.

Schwab was last seen on a beach downriver from National Canyon after a sightseeing stop.

The National Park Service conducted a multi-day search and rescue operation after Schwab was reported missing.

The Coconino County Medical Examiner will confirm positive identification.

Schwab, 66, was visiting the Grand Canyon from Healdsburg, California.
