The state's three universities are asking the Board of Regents to approve higher tuition and fee rates for the coming academic year.

Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University submitted their proposals Friday.

At ASU, new undergraduates who are Arizona residents would see tuition and fees increase by 1.4 percent, from $10,640 to $10,792.

Incoming in-state undergrads at U of A will pay $12,227, a 3.9 percent increase from the current $11,769 per year.

New NAU students will see tuition and fees go up 2.7 percent, from $10,764 to $11,059.

The Regents will examine the rate increase proposals and at their April meeting.
