PHOENIX — Arizona Task Force Team 1 is being deployed to Louisiana to prepare for Hurricane Laura.
Forty-five members of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team, including two search and rescue canines, are set to depart Wednesday night.
Laura is expected to deliver catastrophic storm surge, extreme winds, and flash flooding.
The center of Laura is forecast to move over northwestern Louisiana, across Arkansas Thursday night, and over the mid-Mississippi Valley on Friday.
Officials say the team will be used for urban search and water rescue needs in response to the powerful storm. It's unclear at this time how long the team will stay.
