For those who are comfortable with a staycation, I scored you a Smart Shopper Deal of the Day at The Wigwam in Litchfield Park. With over a century of service, this resort is also a time capsule of Arizona's history.
Did you know that The Wigwam started as a lodge in the early 1900s? Well, by 1929, it officially opened as a resort. Click here to see the history.
Expansions over the last 90 years brought it to what you see today. The website describes it as 440 acres, featuring 331 luxurious rooms and suites, three championship golf courses, nine tennis courts, three swimming pools (one with a water slide), a fitness center, award-winning restaurants and more! Plus, the original lodge is still on the property!
There are additional activities and free classes for guests. I'm told by a direct source from The Wigwam that some classes are only for resort guests and country club members like Sunrise Yoga and Sound Healing Meditation. However, the weekly Sunset Yoga class on the Trellis Garden on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased here. Again, this class and other classes are FREE to resort guests.
Currently at this Southwestern staple, the pools, Wigwam Bar, and Red's Bar & Grill are open. So is LeMond's Aveda Salon and Spa, by appointment only, and masks are required in public places. Litchfield's will be opening in October.
