Selling your stuff requires little more than a quality photo and a well-worded post.

Diana Blinkhorn who authors the Gray Ruby blog and works as a stay-at-home mom of three little girls has pocketed over a $1,000 dollars turning her clutter into cash.

When it comes to all the "like new," but outgrown, clothes Diana says she'll post on Kidizen.

For larger items like furniture, she posts on OfferUp.com.

And when it comes to general items like a Barbie house or gently used rug, her go to is Facebook Marketplace.

Basic rules for making the most money off your clutter:

  1. Take good care of your things
  2. Use quality photos and manufacturer's description
  3. Be honest about the condition

Expert money saver Tracy Shaw writes the blog Having Fun Saving. She figures she pockets more money posting her stuff than turning it over to a consignment site. She’s pocketed as much as $75 each for doll houses and old furniture.
