Purse snatching thieves arrested after running a red light causing crash

The Department of Public Service says four people have been arrested after running a red light and causing a crash near Grand and 134th avenues.

All four people inside the vehicle ran from the scene of the crash and were arrested with help from Surprise and Peoria police.

Surprise police says the suspects inside of the vehicle stole a woman's purse from her grocery cart a short time before at a nearby Walmart.

The victim of the purse snatch says she was putting groceries in her car when the suspect drove up and stole her purse. She said she tried to hold onto the purse, but the suspects were too strong and took it.

The identity of the suspects have not been released.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle hit were treated on scene for minor injuries.
