A new interchange to reduce congestion along a major arterial in a Phoenix suburb is scheduled to open next week.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says the overpass carrying Bell Road over Grand Avenue in Surprise is set to open Tuesday.
ADOT says the new interchange will reduce traffic delays cause by freight trains using tracks along Grand Avenue.
The department says an accelerated timeline will mean that most of the $41.9 million project is finished before the holiday shopping season and all work will be done before the baseball's spring training.
Grand Avenue is U.S. 60 and part of the state highway system.
The Bell Road closure began April 1.
