A former high school track coach is accused of having sexual misconduct with a minor, according to the Surprise Police Department.
Officials said 38-year-old Dwayne Michael Hawkins began the alleged sexual conduct with the 17-year-old girl in January, while she was in the care of Hawkins and his wife at their Surprise home.
Police said Hawkins, a former part-time track coach for Valley Vista High School, was arrested Friday and booked into jail. He has been charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
It is unclear whether the victim attended Valley Vista High School or whether there are any other potential victims.
The Surprise Police Department is asking for anyone with information of sexual misconduct involving Hawkins to call them at 623-222-4000.
