The Surprise Fire-Medical Department says two people were taken to the hospital after trying to stop a dogfight on Tuesday night.
The owners' dogs reportedly started fighting and one of the owners had to fire a shot to break up the fight.
A bullet reportedly grazed the dog's head, but the dog was still breathing when animal control picked both up from the home near Sarival Avenue and Greenway Road.
Both owners had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment for bite wounds.
There is no word on the extent of injuries to the dogs or the owners.
