Police look for driver in Peoria hit-and-run

Posted

Police are asking for the public's help to find the driver involved in a serious hit-and-run crash in November.

According to Peoria police, a 24-year-old woman was riding her bicycle near 85th Avenue, attempting to cross Jefferson Street, when a black pickup truck crossed the street and struck her.

The incident happened just after 5 p.m. on Nov. 21.

The pickup truck then left the scene, traveling westbound on Jefferson Street, police said. The woman remains in the hospital with several severe injuries.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic male, late 20s or early 30s, with medium skin tone, thin build, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

He has short black hair, styled in a "fade" type haircut and has dark eyes and a dark mustache, last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and jeans.

It's unclear at this time if he temporarily got out of his vehicle at the scene.

The vehicle was a black newer model, four-door Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra with tinted windows and a chrome grille.

Police provided a stock photo of a vehicle they believe is similar to the suspect's pickup truck.

If you have information regarding this incident, you are urged to call the Peoria Police Traffic Services Division at 623-773-5063.
