A woman is hospitalized in critical condition after being shot in the face in Peoria.
According to the Peoria Police Department, the woman was found in her car shortly after 3 a.m. near 83rd Avenue and Washington Street after calling 911.
The victim told authorities she was playing a game on her cell phone while parked in a parking lot and spotted three men approaching her car. At least one suspect held a gun to her head and fired once when she refused to get out of her car, officials said.
The woman was able to drive away and called for help. She said she doesn't know the men, but two were black and one was Hispanic. No additional descriptions were provided.
A Peoria police spokesperson said they found evidence in the parking lot, but were unable to locate any of the suspects.
Investigators are combing through surveillance footage in an attempt to identify the men.
