Police say two people are in the hospital after a stabbing and shooting during an apparent drug transaction Sunday night.

Officers responded to the area of 83rd Avenue and Lake Pleasant Parkway around 10:45 p.m. after someone called 911 saying they had been shot.

Investigators determined the incident happened a short distance away, at a home near 83rd Avenue and Deer Valley Road, according to a release from the Peoria Police Department.

Authorities said the victim and three others drove to that home. Two got out and went inside "to conduct what appears to be a drug transaction," according to the release.

While inside, one of the residents got into a fight with one of the visitors--resulting in the resident suffering a blow to the head and stab wounds from glass broken from a bong. The resident then shot the visitor twice, police said.

The visitors drove away from the home before calling about the shooting.

Both victims were hospitalized in serious condition and were uncooperative with the investigation, police said. Detectives searched the home where the fight happened and found a lot of drugs. A search of a home in Surprise turned up the weapon used in the shooting, police said.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation was ongoing, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call the Peoria Police Department at 623-773-8311.
