GOODYEAR — The Maricopa County Department of Emergency Management and the Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant are testing the emergency alert system on Wednesday.

Goodyear Police Department posted on Twitter Tuesday warning residents that, if they hear sirens coming from the far west Valley, the annual siren system would be tested on Dec. 2.

The test will include outdoor sirens within a 10-mile radius of the power plant. Sirens will be activated at 12 and 12:30 p.m., and the Wireless Emergency Alert system will be activated at 12:15 p.m.

The message to accompany the WEA will state, “THIS IS A TEST OF MARICOPA COUNTY WIRELESS EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM. NO ACTION IS REQUIRED."
