The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says a DPS cruiser was involved in a crash that sent a teen to the hospital.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Dysart and Camelback roads just before 6 p.m. An MCSO spokesperson said a state trooper in his issued cruiser hit a 13-year-old girl.

Authorities said the girl was not crossing in the crosswalk and was taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to an MCSO spokesperson, the trooper was driving an unmarked vehicle at the time of the incident.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office will be conducting the investigation. An email sent late Tuesday seeking information from the Department of Public Safety was not immediately returned.

The intersection was closed while deputies remained on the scene. There was no word on when it would reopen.
