Glendale police have identified the driver who died in a crash on Grand Avenue Thursday morning.
A release from Sgt. David Vidaure said officers responded around 7:30 a.m. to the area of 57th Drive and Grand Avenue for a two-vehicle crash. Glendale firefighters responded and treat one of the injured drivers.
That man, identified as 24-year-old Jorge Rivas, of Phoenix, was later pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver received minor injuries.
Detectives determined Rivas was driving northwest on Grand Avenue when the second vehicle made a left turn onto southeast Grand from 57th Drive. The second driver remained on scene and cooperated with investigators, Vidaure said.
The case remains open, and police said it does not appear impairment played a role in the crash.
Grand Avenue was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the crash.
