Taking action to help others in the midst of unimaginable grief.

Nineteen-year-old Kiera Bergman was found dead in September after disappearing from her Glendale apartment. Investigators found her body off SR-85 and Hazen Road in the West Valley. For Bergman's family, life comes and goes one day at a time.

"There are certain things that will come up that remind me of her and the situation, and then I can't stop thinking about it," said Kiersten Bragg, Bergman's mom. "Still lots of crying."

Now, they are focused on giving back in Bergman's name. They've launched a donation drive on Amazon to help survivors of domestic abuse and the homeless in their home state of California.

"She had always said when she got her cosmetology license she wanted to start, at least once a month, either going to parks or homeless shelters and doing their hair," said Bragg.

Bergman's ex-boyfriend, Jonathan Clark, is currently behind bars facing several charges in her death, including first-degree murder. Court documents show the couple had a history of domestic disputes.

Bergman's friends and family are watching the case closely and plan to make the trek to Arizona if and when it goes to trial.

Until then, the focus will stay on keeping Bergman's story alive and carrying out her passion for helping others.

"We're just praying that through doing this we can get in contact with other people," said Bragg.  "See if we can help other people so they don't go through what she went through."
