The Glendale Police Department is investigating after a shooting Friday afternoon that left one person dead.

Officers responded to an apartment complex near 59th Avenue and Camelback just before 3 p.m.

Police said a man was found in one of the units with a gunshot wound. The victim was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

The man was discovered by his wife, who came home to find him injured.

Investigators said the injury did not appear to be self-inflicted. Officers were on the scene conducting interviews and checking the surrounding area.

Police said four people were seen leaving the area in a white, 4-door sedan, though detectives were not immediately sure if it was related.

Nancy Sivas lives just a couple doors away from where the shooting happened. She said she came home to find the grim scene in her parking lot.

“It’s terrifying you know. I kind of just stay to myself, 'Keep my distance you know.'  Just hearing things it’s pretty frightening. I feel bad for the people, can’t imagine what they’re going through right now," she said.

Another resident who did not want to be identified said he heard it was a family dispute that escalated, but Glendale police said that was not the information they have at this time.
